Descriptions : Has a naturally attacker instinct, useful player with multi talents and capability.
Lato was a most historical Poland football player, during his 104 apperances for Poland national football team, he has scored 46 goals. Lato made his name as an International star with an outstanding performance in the 1974 World Cup which helped his country to a surprise third place finish. He ended the tournament as top marksmen with seven goals and alongside teammates Gadocha and Kazmiercz Deyna, became known as one of the world's brightest talents.
He made his debut for Poland against Spain in 1971 before featuring in the team that won the gold medal at the Munich Olympics a year later. By 1973 he had done enough to establish himself as a regular in the senior national team, and in a career that was to go on until 1984, Lato's well documented predatory instincts were to reap a record total of forty six International goals.
He was however by no means an out and out striker. As his career wore on he tended to drop back into midfield where he continued to be equally effective. The distinctively balding Lato pulled the strings for the Polish team that qualified for the 1978 World Cup Finals and in the process, earned himself a move from his club side Stal Mielec to Lokeren of Belgium.
Four years later, despite his advancing years he was handed something of a surprise call up to the Polish squad that impressed on it's way to a 3-2 World Cup third place play-off victory over a multi-talented French side. During the finals Lato picked up his one hundredth cap in what was to be his last major International tournament. Two years later in 1984 he moved across the Alantic to end his playing career with Mexican side Atlante.
